California: more discoveries …

After camping and exploring 4 wonderful National Parks (Death Valley, Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon) we headed to the XPCamper factory in Grass Valley, CA. On the way we spent a couple of nights in Sacramento, California’s Capital, to regroup and do some laundry after a week of tent camping. On June 12, 2015 we drove 2…

Goodbye, USA

Death Valley e Inyo National Forest

Adventurous Weekends, Surprise Visits, and the Dude: Life in Studio City

I told you last time how we were leaving Venice, and our life from before the Big Adventure behind, but I had no idea how fun the next chapter was going to be. That’s why I haven’t written anything in so long! Time is funny, especially for us dogs. One moment you’re playing tug of […]

Jumbo Rocks – Joshua Tree National Park

Great piles of boulders are strewn across the landscape, creosote and ocotillo reach toward the clear blue sky, and spiky Joshua Trees dominate the horizon. We’re in the Jumbo Rocks Campground for one night bound for Arizona by motorcycle. California’s Joshua Tree … Continue reading →

Van and Casa upgrades

I can’t believe Juan hasn’t posted photos of the van. Here he is, in all of his restored glory. It is pretty unbelievable how shiny and new it looks. You would never guess where it’s been! The color is pretty…

Dogtown Daze

After we packed up and left Jason’s family behind in Oceanside, it was finally time for our triumphant return to Venice. This was the last place we called home before packing up the camper and leaving on the Big Adventure, back in the days before Maya, before border crossings, basically before everything I had known […]

Arizona Loop Overview

Arizona is wildly different from top to bottom, and east to west. For those who haven’t spent much time exploring the Grand Canyon State, it seems easy to sum up Arizona with the iconic canyon and a desert with Saguaro cactuses, … Continue reading →

Reunions, Regulations, and Repairs

Our last morning in Mexico dawned cold and wet, with heavy, chilly rain pounding the roof and turning the campsite into mud. As you can imagine, all I wanted to do was huddle under the covers and wait for the sun. Victoria and Jason, however, were eager to get our last border crossing handled, so […]

Finally—Heading south like we’re supposed to!

When people enquire as to what we are doing as we aimlessly drive around the Americas we tend to respond with: ‘We’re driving from Alaska to Argentina’. Those in the know often respond with ‘Oh, so you are driving the PanAmerican Highway then?” To which we typically respond with a shifty sideways glance and say […]
